On May 6th, in Iasi, solemn celebrations were held dedicated to the day of preserving the memory of the past and the reconciliation that is commemorated in Ukraine and the world on May 8th of each year. The Day of Memory and Reconciliation was established by the Law of Ukraine "On the Victory of Nazism in the Second World War of 1939-1945". The event was attended by: representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Bucharest, His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania, Olexander Serheiovych Bankov and his counselor, Mr. Pavlo Aurelovych Rohovei, the representative of the military attachés of the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania, Colonel Gheorgiu Ivanovych Olikovskii, together with representatives of the local authorities: the prefect of Iasi, Mr. Marian Serbescu, the vice president of the Iasi County Council, Mr. Romeo Olteanu, the mayor of Iasi, Mr. Mihai Chirica, the representative of the Iasi garrison, the members of the Iasi branch committee of UUR Victor Hrihorciuc , Daniel Serdenciuc and Ioan Leiba. They all gathered at the Eternity cemetery in Iasi, in front of the memorial monument dedicated to the Ukrainian soldiers, fallen in the Second World War for the defense of the territorial integrity of Ukraine for a ceremony of filing crowns of flowers and to honor their sacrifice, the deeds of bravery for victory. The ceremony was attended also by members of the Iasi Branch and other guests.

          The celebrations started with a memorial service for those killed in the Second World War, held by the priest of the Iasi military garrison. The flower wreath ceremony began after the guard who had attended the event presented the honor. Representatives of the above-mentioned institutions and organizations put wreaths at the monument and held a moment of silence. After this celebration, at the "Labyrinth" gallery of the "Mihai Ursachi" Culture House in Iasi, took place the exhibition of documentary photography "Ukraine in the Second World War".
