Between October 26-27, 2019, in Cluj-Napoca, the eighth Congress of the Ukrainian Union of Romania was held. Nicolae-Miroslav Petrețchi, Member of the Romanian Parliament, was unanimously re-elected as President of the UUR. The new UUR leadership was also elected.

      The event was attended by delegates of the UUR branches: Maramureş, Suceava, Botoşani, Iaşi, Galaţi, Tulcea, Caraş-Severin, Timiş, Arad, Satu Mare, Cluj and the municipality of Bucharest. Also, guests of the UUR branches were present.

       Among the guests of honor were: the honorary president of the World Congress of Ukrainians, a member of the CMU Board of Directors, Eugene Czolij, the president of the Ukrainian World Coordination Council, Myhailo Ratushnyi, the general secretary of the Association "Ukraine-World", Alla Kendzera, the minister- adviser of the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania, Yevhen Levytskyi, first vice-president of the state administration of the Verhovina rayon, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine, Iaroslav Skumatciuk, prodecan of the Faculty of Letters of the Babeş-Bolyai University, Dorin Ioan Chiraului, the Orthodox Ioan Chira Romania, the priest Nicolae Lauruc, the artist emeritus of Ukraine, Marian Hadenko, officials and artists from Romania and Ukraine.

        The activity reports of the UUR (the UUR subsidiaries, the committees of the UUR Council, the Women's Organization and the UUR Youth Organization) were presented, as well as the activity report of the UUR deputy, Nicolae-Miroslav Petrețchi.

        The Congress ended with the debate and approval of the Resolution of the VIII Congress of the UUR.
